SHIHAN DON RODRIGUES

Grand Master Don Rodrigues began his Martial Arts training in 1967 under the late Grand Master Nick Cerio. He has also studied and has been certified under the late Grand Master Ed Parker and by Grand Master George Pesare. He is the founder and President of the Don Rodrigues Karate Academy and the Oki-Ryu Kenpo system (since 1982) and currently holds the rank of 10th Degree Black Belt. Mr. Rodrigues was President of WAKO-USA from 1991-2015, President of the Board of Directors of American Kenpo International and the Vice President of KRANE Ratings Inc. (New England’s premier Sport Karate ratings service). He is the publisher / author of “Finding the Funds” (marketing package), co-publisher of KRANE Ratings International magazine and he was featured on the 1st edition of Action Martial Arts trading cards. Mr. Rodrigues has appeared in many magazines, national and international, including the cover of several National Martial Art publications.

Mr. Rodrigues enjoys teaching, coaching and promoting; he is tops in all three categories! As an instructor, he has taught many World Champions, helped over 200 people reach their goal of Black Belt, and his school is one of the best (and one of the largest) on the East Coast.

As a Coach, Mr. Rodrigues is noted as the best in the World. He has been coaching the best Sport Karate Team in the World, Team Paul Mitchell, for over 29 years. He was also the coach of the WAKO-USA team from 1991-2015. He has trained and coached over 150 competitors to over 200 World titles since 1985. In 2001, he was inducted into the Black Belt magazine’s Hall of Fame as “Coach of the Year”. In 1997, he was awarded “Coach of the Year” by KRANE International, and in 1995 by Inside Kung Fu Magazine’s Hall of Fame award. He has coached Team Paul Mitchell and the WAKO-USA Team all over the World (from Poland to England, Canada, Germany, Guatemala…..). In 1998, he coached the US Sanshou Kickboxing Team in Beijing, China.

As a promoter, he started promoting the Ocean State Grand Nationals 36 years ago and it has grown to one of the top 10 tournaments in North America. He also co-promoted the 9th WAKO World Championships in Atlantic city, NJ in 1993 and several nationally televised kickboxing events. He was the promotional director for the World Cup of Martial Arts, held in 1995 at Foxwoods Casino. From 1995 to present, Mr. Rodrigues has helped raise over $250,000 for Chuck Norris’ Kick Drugs Out of America / Kickstart program.

With these and many other accomplishments, in 1999 Inside Kung Fu Magazine included Mr. Rodrigues as one of the great 100 people that made an impact on the Martial Arts in the 20th century! Most recently, Mr. Rodrigues produced the motion picture Champions of the Deep, which had its premiere and was released on Aug. 10-12th, 2012 in Providence, RI. Also, on Sept. 15th, 2012 Mr. Rodrigues he co-promoted the World Cup of Mixed Martial Arts at Foxwoods Casino’s MGM in Ledyard, CT.

Christine’s accomplishments at the W.A.K.O. (World Association of Karate and Kickboxing Organizations) Games has earned her several world records, including the honor of having been the only person, man or woman, to have ever won three World Titles at a single event. She established another world record when she did the same in 1993, making her the first person in history to have ever won three World Titles in two consecutive W.A.K.O. Games. Her aggregate total of (9) World Titles is yet another unprecedented and as of yet undisputed world record.

Christine is the winner of over 100-major National and International Karate Tournaments. She has won a total of over 1,000 trophies in her competitive career, as well as over 100 Grand Championships.

Christine was a columnist for MA Training Magazine and KRI Magazine.

Christine in the co-owner and Chief Instructor of the Don Rodrigues Karate Academy since 1985.

Christine is the co-promoter of the Ocean State Grand Nationals.

Christine is a spokesperson, product designer, and model for Macho products since 1991
